Isn´t a pregnancy supposed to last longer?

Hätte ich vorher gewußt das mein Körper anscheinend perfekte Wesen in wesentlich kürzerer Zeit produziert, wären viele Sorgen unbegründet gewesen!



Meine Schwangerschaft fing recht problemlos an. Abgesehen davon, dass ich erst an meinem TErmin am 2. Januar 2009 das Herzlein bubbern sehen konnte, ging es dann problemlos weiter. Bis ca. zur 16. Woche. Auf einmal hieß es: Ihr Gebärmutterhals ist viel zu kurz! Da begann das ewige Zittern vor den Terminen beim Frauenarzt. In der 18. Woche war es glaube ich, da war es unumgänglich. Kurz vor unserer Hochzeit sollte ich also ins Krankenhaus zum Durchchecken und die haben mich gleich da behalten. Der Gebärmutterhals hatte nur noch 2cm.

Ich sollte in ein 3-Bett-Zimmer, aber als ich da rein kam, waren mir die zwei Damen dort schon super unsympathisch und ich hatte eh so viel Gedanken im Kopf, dass ich echt Ruhe brauchte. Also habe ich die Schwester gebeten mir ein Einzelzimmer zu geben. War mir in dem Moment wurscht wieviel ich dafür zahlen sollte!

4 Tage lang bekam ich einen Magnesiumtropf und dann hatte sich mein Gebärmutterhals doch mal wieder dazu bequemt auf 4cm zu wachsen und ich durfte eine Woche vor unserer Hochzeit wieder nachhause!

Die Hochzeit und die 3-4 Wochen danach vergingen problemlos. Aber dann begann das Spiel von vorne. Aber unter strenger Aufsicht meines Frauenarztes durfte ich erst einmal zuhause bleiben. Am 7. Juli war ich bei meinem Frauenarzt wieder, und da bat er mich, ich solle doch lieber noch einmal ins Krankenhaus zu einem Dopplerultraschall und die sollen nochmal eine zweite Meinung geben. Montags, am 10. Juli hatte ich dort Termin und nachdem der Doppler unauffällig war, untersuchte er dann meinen Gebärmutterhals, mit dem Ergebnis: sie bleiben hier! Er war nur noch 0,9cm, ich war gerade in der 34. Woche angekommen, bei 33+1. Ich wurde stationär aufgenommen, bekam Wehenhemmer und musste liegen.

Die 2 Wochen waren nervig, aber was tut man nicht für so ein kleines Wesen alles. Abgesehen davon das ich bald zerflossen bin bei dem Wetter!

Bei 34+6 wurde der Wehenhemmer ausgestellt, samstags, und ich sollte sonntags entlassen werden sofern sich nichts tut. Sonntags bei der Abschlussuntersuchung sagte die Ärztin: Gebärmutterhals bei 1cm, Muttermund fingerdurchlässig. Ich bin gespannt wann SIe wiederkommen. Manche Frauen gehen mit dem Befund noch über Termin.

Mittags war ich endlich zuhause und es folgte der schlimmste Tag meiner Schwangerschaft. Alle 5 Minuten wurde mein Bauch hart, ich war völlig durch den Wind, konnte nicht sitzen mehr, und ich hab mir ausgemalt wie das wird wenn das noch wochenlang so weitergeht!
Tsja... bis zum nächsten Morgen, um sieben Uhr....

When I had known that my body obviously produces perfect babies in much less time, I would have had much less worries!


My pregnancy started without complications. I only saw the heart beat on my appointment on 2 January 2009, but that wasn´t too worrying really.

It all went well, until 16th week, when my doc said: your cervix is far too short. So I had to see him quite often and when I had reached 18th week he told me, I should go to the hospital to get a second opinion as the cervix became shorter and shorter.

So I went to the hospital where they let me stay. My cervix was only 2cm long/short and they wanted to have a closer look.

I was supposed to stay in a 3-bed-room, but entering the room and seeing two ladies I just didn´t like from the first sight, I asked the nurse to get me a single room. I really had too much on my mind, was really worried, and I didn´t care how much I had to pay.

I had magnesium through my veins and after 4 days my cervix decided to get longer again and had 4cm. I was allowed home, a week before our wedding.

The wedding and the 3-4 to weeks after that went without complications. But then it started all again and I had lots of appointments with my doc.

On 7 July I saw my doc and he told me the state was worrying again, and he wanted to me to have another examination ion hospital. 10 July was the date, and after an sono which was ok they had a look at my cervix which brought them to the decision that I had to stay. My cervix was only 0,9cm.

So I had tocolytics and had to lie down. I was just at the start of week 34, 33+1 it was.

When I reachend 34+6 they removed the tocolytics and on sunday I had the last examination. THe doc said: I am curious when you will be back. My cervix was 1cm and a bit open already. She said, some women would go over the due date with an indication like that.
The day was pure horror. I had contractions every 5 minutes, not the real contractions, but the ones where your belly cramps together. I couldn´t sit, wanted to cry because I was annoyed and I thought to myself, if this state would continue for the next weeks I will be a mental wreck soon, very soon!
Well... but everything was different by the next morning, 7 o´clock....
